Literary anthropology: reading culture, power, and identity in world literature
Keywords:
literary anthropology, world literature, reading cultureAbstract
The primary objective of this book is to dissolve the rigid methodological boundaries that have historically separated cultural anthropology from literary studies. By tracing the theoretical foundations of myth and ritual, dismantling the literacy bias in Western canons, and analyzing literature as both an arena of hegemonic power and a weapon for subaltern resistance, this work seeks to position texts, whether meticulously inscribed or orally transmitted as active ethnographic sites. Through the lenses of postcolonialism, ecocriticism, and diaspora studies, the chapters herein are designed to provide scholars, students, and researchers with a comprehensive interdisciplinary framework to read literature as a lived social reality.
